LCD United Arsenal U14 Boys took another run at a NCS State
Championship this year, having won the U13 NCS State
Championship in 2011, and advancing to the semi-finals in the 2011
Regional 1 Regional Championship. On their road to the 2012 State
Cup, LDC Arsenal defeated YMS 3-1 in the round of 16,
Montgomery United Hotspurs 4-0 in the quarter-final, and United
German Hungarian Wolfpack 2-1 in the semi-final. In the State Cup
Final, LDC Arsenal faced Lehigh Valley United, the 2010 State
Champion, who LDC Arsenal had eliminated in last year's semi-
final. In a tough game that was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation,
two ten minute overtime periods needed to be played. The game
was still tied 1-1 at the end of the first overtime and for most of the
second overtime; however, toward the end of the second overtime,
Lehigh Valley was able to find the net to reclaim their state title with
a 2-1 win over the Arsenal. Arsenal, which is changing its name to
LDC City Islanders for the 2012-13 season to play year-round in
partnership with the City Islanders Academy team, strives to be
back in the state championship game again next year. The team is
coached by Head Coach Eric Pettis and Assistant Coach Bob
Marcavage, and the team is trained by Celso Torres. Arsenal team
members include: Matthew Canis, Gerry Garcia, Robby Hanosek,
Matthew Kline, David Koteles, Cooper Leslie, Matt Ly, Colin
Marcavage, Jimmy Mosca, Sam Murray, Matthew Perri, Isaiah
Pettis, Zach StClair, Tanner Therit and Matt West.
